Yes. BudgetOS is fully free forever for individuals, families, and everyone. Without Pro you still get SplitBuddy, reports, account management, budgets, events, Family Sync, double-entry style ledgers, and more. Optional Pro AI is about $1/month or $10/year (prices may vary by region) — among the cheapest powerful AI finance options worldwide by a wide margin.
Is BudgetOS available in Sri Lanka?
Yes. BudgetOS is fully optimized for users in Sri Lanka and worldwide, featuring native LKR currency support, local Sri Lankan bank SMS parsing formats, and multi-lingual voice/text processing for English, Sinhala, and Tamil.
Does BudgetOS support LKR and foreign currencies?
Yes. BudgetOS supports multi-currency ledger tracking including LKR, USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, and SGD with automated exchange rate normalization.
Which platforms are supported?
BudgetOS is available on iOS (iPhone), Android, Web browsers (usebudgetos.com/web), and WhatsApp via the FinChat agent.
FinChat & WhatsApp AI Assistant
What is FinChat?
FinChat is the built-in AI finance assistant in BudgetOS that runs natively inside WhatsApp. Users can text expenses, send 12-second voice notes, or upload receipt images to log spending immediately.
Does FinChat support voice notes?
Yes. FinChat automatically transcribes natural language voice notes, categorizes the vendor and category, and writes the resulting transaction directly into your BudgetOS app ledger.
Does FinChat support Sinhala and Tamil?
Yes. FinChat understands voice notes and text messages spoken or typed in English, Sinhala, and Tamil.
SplitBuddy & Group Expenses
What is SplitBuddy?
SplitBuddy is BudgetOS's built-in group expense splitting feature. It lets you split bills evenly or by custom amounts with family, roommates, or trip partners, automatically syncing your net share to your personal ledger.
Do my friends need to install BudgetOS to split bills?
No. You can add friends as non-registered dummy accounts in SplitBuddy. When they later join BudgetOS, their past transaction history seamlessly transfers to their account.
Receipt Scanning & Bank SMS Sync
How does the AI receipt scanner work?
Point your phone camera or upload a photo of any printed paper receipt. BudgetOS OCR extracts line items, tax, totals, and merchant details, then categorizes those line items into spending categories — including different categories on the same bill.
Does BudgetOS upload or store raw bank SMS messages?
No. Optional bank SMS tracking on iOS and Android reads transaction alerts from authorized financial institutions on your device. Raw SMS messages are never stored as a server-side message archive, and the feature stays off unless you enable it.
Family Finance & Family Sync
Can family members keep separate accounts?
Yes. Each person keeps their own BudgetOS account and private books. Through Family Sync, members can share selected expenses and accounts with the household — and vice versa — without mixing every personal account into one ledger.
Privacy & Security
How does BudgetOS protect my financial information?
BudgetOS utilizes Zero-Knowledge End-to-End Encryption (E2EE). Your financial records are encrypted on your device using keys stored in your device enclave. Servers cannot read your transactions, and data is never sold to third parties.
